At the core of dance and this school is Royal Academy of Dance Classical Ballet. Ballet helps pupils to develop in so many ways, including physical strength, muscle memory, discipline, musicality and coordination.
We teach the Royal Academy of Dance Classical Ballet syllabus and enter pupils for Graded and Vocational examinations from Pre-primary to Grade 8 and Intermediate Foundation to Advanced Two. Pupils are encouraged to enter these exams. However, they are not compulsory.
Ballet is taught by our team of ballet teachers:
Success at higher level examinations result in UCAS points recognised by Higher Education providers.
Our Prelude Dance Company is a junior ballet company created to provide the best dancers of the School an opportunity to focus on performance, technique and enhance their performance skills. The Company has a prominent role in our school shows and performs at local community events including the Beckenham Festival.
Internal exams for youngest pupils
Ballet basics have regular parent watching classes and Pre-primary pupils take an internal assessment at the end of the school year and move up to the next grade if they are old enough (see Ages below).
